Costs and facilities

NB. The prices mentioned below are on the understanding that you leave the place clean and tidy ready for the next group. As a volunteer run centre we expect you to clean up after yourselves. Failure to do so might incur a valeting fee if we need to get in a paid cleaner.

Camping.       The camp fee is €5 per person per night for scouts and leaders. This includes showers and toilet facilities, wet weather shelter, a variety of camping pitches to choose from, a metal altar fire and fire wood and perhaps even a picnic table. Wheelie bins for glass, drinks cans, batteries, metal items, general and recyclable waste.

Included in the fee you are welcome to take part in the self-lead on-site activities such as orienteering, pioneering, rafting, Cat’s eye night hike, nature trail, eco-base etc. Swimming and rafting are limited to a designated area and must be supervised by leaders in charge of their group as Lough Dan does not have an official life guard. No deposit is required when making a camping booking. You pay on arrival based on the numbers attending.

Day visits      These are free to members of scouting Ireland. Lough Dan is the ideal venue for the start or finish of a hike and feel free to use the facilities such as car park, toilets, metal barbeques and all on-site activities. Non scouting groups pay a minimum of €5 per person for day visits or by arrangement.
