Campfires

We have an area set aside as a campfire circle with some seating where you are welcome to run your own campfire. Please keep noise levels to an acceptable level as although we are in the countryside we do have neighbours. All quiet is from 11pm.

Leave No TraceĀ is the policy of the centre and ground fires are only allowed in designated areas located around the site.

The site buys in firewood so that scouts do not have to scavenge for firewood and perhaps damage trees in the process. Take note that the woodland around Lough Dan is protected as part of a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Please be mindful of the need for fuel conservation and keep your campfires small. (They should not become bonfires)

Again to avoid scouts breaking branches off trees and bushes toasting forks are available from the camp staff for those wanting to cook marsh mallows, sausages or even toast.
